Q. Why are we selling off our rental boats?

A. There are actually a few reasons why we do this. First things first. We are not going out of business. It's fair to say that July is our last busy month before we get into our off season (August, September, October). For this reason we need to bring in some cash to get us through it. The manufacturers have graciously given us dating  and it is time for us to pay the bills. Moving out some of this stuff is also a smart  move on our part since our off season is also a major part of our lovely Hurricane Season. So it's basically good business practice and it also gives our customers a chance to buy a quality boat at  good savings. Our rental customers appreciate the new and updated equipment when they return year after year and we are thankful for your help getting us through this vicious little cycle. One week after our sale ends all our manufacturers announce new products and pricing to start it all over again. Yippee!

Q. Why are we pre-selling boats ?

A. It seems to work best this way. No one has to get up early and wait at our gates with only hopes that the boat will be theirs. All it takes is a simple phone call or email and if it is available it could be yours! Doing it this way also gives you more time to save the extra cash, we all know that extra cash is hard to come by these days.

Q. When do the boats have to be paid off?

A. The boats need to be paid off in full by or before the sell date that is posted on the rental/demo inventory pages.

Q. Is there any benefit to pay the boat off in full early?

A. Actually yes! If you wish to pay the full amount up front you will receive a 60% discount on kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals during the waiting period. The 60% discount is valid only to the original purchaser and before the sell date.

Q. Is the deposit refundable?

A. No. The deposit is non-refundable. If we made it that easy there would be no responsibility. We only want you to make a deposit when you are ready to make a commitment. The boat of your choice will need to be paid in full on or before the sell date otherwise the deposit will be forfeited. See next Q&A for conditional refunds.

Q. What happens if the boat is damaged?

A. Every year we blast out the major part of our fleet with no problems. FBO will not sell a boat that is not safe. Since we ask our rental customers to leave a security deposit, our gear is used with care and respect. We expect boats to get scraped here and there (usually on the bottom) but overall  they fare pretty well. So you will have to expect normal wear.  If for some reason there is a problem and it cannot be repaired with 100% satisfaction, FBO will offer another alternative or offer you your money back. We go over every boat and make adjustments and replace parts if needed just before we sell them.

Q. Could the boats be stored at FBO until we arrive back in town?

A. Yes of course, but for a limited amount of time and as long as the boats are paid in full. You must let us know in advance. Boats will be kept in a u-haul warehouse. FBO will not be held responsible for theft or damages.
